About Me

Seasoned engineering leader, with years of experience forging productive teams, and leading complex software development initiatives

I am a motivated Engineering Manager and communicator, with 5 years of management experience and notable success providing direction and vision to a team of developers on both on-site and remote teams. For the last 15 years I've been developing and deploying scalable distributed systems, forging productive teams, and leading complex software development initiatives.

As a Platform Specialist, My mission is to enable and support product teams with tools and infrastructure, maintain the core platform for those teams to build out web products and services, and to align engineering capacity with company strategy and goals.

I also manage backend projects throughout the development life-cycle from product planning to deployment, as well as guide the platform team in efforts such as ensuring data and platform integrity, and the implementation and maintenance of the API Gateway, data-layer integration services, domain-specific microservices, and event-driven data streams.

I am a seasoned engineering leader and communicator, with years of experience managing engineering teams, providing direction and vision and leading technical projects throughout the development life-cycle, from product development, to delivery and deployment. I am a dedicated problem solver, with a proven aptitude for building high availability distributed web applications and conceptualizing practical, real-world solutions to complex technical problems. I also have several years of experience as a people manager, growing teams through hiring directly or working with recruiters, and conducting performance reviews. With a undeniable affinity and aptitude for coaching and mentoring engineers, I have guided personal growth, and team cohesion, as well as, facilitated agile development, leading engineers through iterations, and feature-driven sprints.

Credit Card Processing, Point-Of-Sale, Bank Integration

Besides a zeal for financial services and technology, I have hands-on experience developing financial applications, including bank transactions, credit and debit card processing and Point-Of-Sale (POS) I've personally worked hands-on building, transactional, event-based web services, and online marketplaces. I've done it all, from processing global transactions, to coverting currencies and managing balance sheets.

Ruby & Javascript

A Passion for Awesome

I've spent the last 15 years developing and deploying high-availability, N-tiered Web Applications, as well as event-driven web service platforms. I've used Java, Python, and others. But I am an unabashed Ruby afficianado, with nearly 20 years of experience writing Ruby software. Mostly using Rails, but also Sinatra, Ruda and other slim frameworks, and of course a ton of Gems! Since then, a Javascript renaissance has inspired me to combine my Ruby affinity Javascript (React, Node, etc.)

Giving Back

I like to spend some of my development time contributing to several open source projects, whther it be fixing bugs or submitting improvements, or helping out with documentation, I help out where I can. I've also released several open source projects of my own, including RConfig, a popular Ruby Gem, that was featured in RubyInside
